Hello everyone! It’s been a while since I last made not only a blog post, but also something new for PurringPyjamas shop. I was so busy working on different things, making sweaters that are already staples in my shop and still trying to keep PurringPyjamas Facebook page updated. But now I have more free time, which means I can make more new stuff. And so here are some sweaters I made over the past few weeks. Let’s get right into it!

The first sweater is what I like to call “Bird Of Paradise”. I know that the colors might not be exactly the same, but it was the first thought that came to my mind once I finished it. It is very soft and warm, made out of 100% acrylic yarn. This is not an actual sweater, because it is quite short, so I like to call it a vest or a crop top – whichever you prefer. Continuing with the fluffy theme, here we have yet another sweater, just this time it is called “Moss”. That’s how the yarn was called, and I think it describes the color & general appearance of the sweater quite accurately. It is extremely soft, very comfy and warm. The yarn is 40% polyamide and 30% acrylic, which gives it the softness, and it also contains 30% wool to keep the kitty warm. You can get it right here: Moss sweater.

And the last one – but not the least – sweater in this fluffy series is this Arctic Fox sweater. It is M size, so none of my cats fit to model it (considering it’s 3 sizes too big for my cats). I tried my best to show how it looks like, but then again – when the sweater is this fluffy, you can’t even tell whether you’re looking at the front of the sweater or the back of it. 🙂 Nevertheless, this sweater is the warmest, fluffiest and thickest out of all three fluffy sweaters. The yarn is 100% acrylic. It is available over here: Arctic Fox.

This yarn I had for a while. I think I bought it back in the summer of 2015, because as soon as I saw it, I fell in love with it and had to have it. Especially, that it was a limited edition yarn, which means that once it’s gone, it’s gone. Few days ago I checked the company’s website, and I was so happy I bought quite a bit of this yarn, because it is not available anymore. This sweater has beautiful ombre effect that goes from dark gray to gorgeous baby blue/bluish mint color. The neckline has a design of cable knit, while the front of it is decorated with metallic beads. I was thinking for a while about the design of this sweater, but in the end I decided to leave this gorgeous yarn on it’s own without adding some crazy patterns and instead I played with the neckline a bit. The yarn is 100% acrylic, so it is extremely soft, very stretchy, thick and warm. There are quite many sweaters available in different sizes. Now these 3 sweaters are made out of the same yarn, just in different colors. Let me tell you: these sweaters are the softest things you’ve ever touched in your life! They’re extremely stretchy, which means that they give maximum movement ability for your cat. The yarn is made of 48% acrylic and 32% polyamide, which provide the softness and stretchiness, while 10% of mohair and 10% of wool give the warmth and nice fluff to the sweater. Coco’s 1st Birthday + Christmas Giveaway

The last post being kind of negative, I think it’s time we come back to being positive! And while many bad things happened, I am blessed to say that even more good things are happening! One of them – Coco’s birthday. Yep, this little coconut turned 1 year old this month. Even though it’s been less than a year since I got her, it seems like she has lived with me for ages. And though she isn’t seen by the public as much as my Sphynx sisters, she is loved just as much! Coco is such sweetheart, who purrs and rubs against you all the time. She is just one super happy and positive kitty!

I still remember how I could hold her in my palm – she was so tiny and cute! Now she’s a real lady – super soft one, who loves to play and run around. And sleep under the blanket of course.

I am so happy that she and my two Sphynx girls get along so well – Coco is just a sister from another mister. 🙂

I don’t know about you, but it starts to feel like Christmas. Now I just need some snow, and Christmas songs will come to my home! But at the moment it’s cold, windy and rainy. Not very Christmasy, huh? But I refuse to accept that and that’s why I decided to do a giveaway! It’s my way of saying “Thank you” to all the wonderful people, who support me and believe in me. Project snowsuit, or how one Sphynx cat just refuses to give winter a way

About a month ago I was contacted by a person, who wanted something rather unusual: a snowsuit for her Sphynx cat. She said that her cat needs daily walks, and towards the winter the weather gets cold where she lives, so she needs something that would protect her naked kitty from getting cold and sick. She mentioned that she contacted some shops that sell cat clothes before, but none of them agreed to do this kind of project. And now I understand why: it takes a lot of thinking, a lot of time and quite a bit of work.

I can’t say it was very difficult to figure out the structure of the snowsuit, because I have my own cats, that are live example of what my clients look like 🙂 The knitted part was pretty easy and quick. But the real thing started with the sewing. I spent 12 hours straight sewing it. Yep, maybe that looks silly, because it’s not a HUGE project, but it is quite time consuming, when you hand sew every single detail.

The snowsuit’s outer layer is hand knitted and the inner layer is fleece. It is very warm and thick, so the wind and cold won’t reach the kitty. The paws are also waterproof – I sewed the glove-like fabric, which will prevent the paws from getting wet. Oh, and in case you were wondering why there’s a hole in the snowsuit, it’s for the harness.

I sent the pictures to the customer and so far she is satisfied with everything, which is great. The only concern that I have is the fit. Even though I had all the needed measurements, it’s always a gamble with something like this. If it was only the knitted part, I wouldn’t worry even a bit, because it’s so stretchy and comfy, so even if something’s a little tight somewhere, it will stretch out. But it’s the fleece I am worried about. It’s stretchiness is quite limited, so if something doesn’t fit, it might be difficult to make it bigger. But fingers crossed it will fit!

Would I take on another project like that? Probably yes! Even though I felt quite miserable after those 12 hours of sewing and all my muscles were sore, if the sweater will fit the kitty it will be the biggest reward! I think it is important to do something you’ve never done before, because it gives you not only skills, but is also daring and interesting.

When water turned into wine

And what exactly happened when water turned into wine? Awesome yarn was born, that’s what! 🙂 And from it came this furry sweater for a naked kitty.

This sweater isn’t a new addition to my shop, but I wasn’t satisfied with the previous pictures, so I finally decided it’s time to change it. I found the old sweater, fixed it up a little bit, grabbed Beliza and shot some pictures. I think it turned out pretty good.

This shoot was quite challenging – all Beliza wanted to do was to lay and look out of the window. And yes, the picture you see above was one of the two shots of her actually sitting. Anyway, we got some good pictures, and that’s what matters!

Yarn is 70% acrylic and 30% wool. It’s quite fluffy and soft because of the acrylic and the wool gives that nice warmth to it. This style sweater is available in many sizes and colors: wine, peach, black, orange, white, pale green, bright blue and bluish purple. Nice selection of colors to suit everyone’s taste. Oh, and did I mention that the rose charm you see is actually made of antique silver? And those little stones are natural agate. Isn’t it awesome? It will suit any fancy kitty’s taste. Can you believe today is the last day of September? Gosh, where all this time is going?! It’s hard to believe that soon we’ll be waiting for the first snow and exchanging gifts on Christmas. I am not sure how much I am feeling all the autumn spirit, but cats are definitely there! Even though they still love spending their time in the balcony, more and more often they choose to rather stay inside under the blanket. And so this autumnal sweater was inspired by them.

I’ve had this yarn for quite short time, because I wanted to do something with it. A lot. I think it reflects autumn so well – it is soft, warm and those brown & burgundy colors are simply gorgeous.

Only one sweater is available in size XXS, because I could find only small amount of this yarn to buy. It can be made with sleeves too, so all depends on your wishes only. Yarn is 100% wool, so believe me – when I say it’s warm, it really is.

PurringPyjamas Halloween Collection 2015: Eat, Drink And Be Scary!

Even though it’s only September (or, actually, ALREADY September), I started planning Halloween collection for PurringPyjamas back in the summer. And even though lately I’ve been crazy busy, I managed to finish and put up all the sweaters for sale like couple of weeks ago. And, well, PurringPyjamas blog apparently got a little forgotten… But not anymore! I started doing some more time planning, so I’m hoping to be posting over here at least once a week. Yay, more cute and soft cats coming! Because internet can never have too many cat pictures and videos. Ever.

Anyway, so here it is – Halloween collection that I finally finished! Let’s get into it.

So the very first sweater is one of the Halloween essentials – I mean, come on, who doesn’t have skulls on Halloween? We have human skulls (fake ones, hopefully, but you can have whatever makes you happy) at home, but I decided to pimp the cats with cat skulls. Because why would the cat be interested in us, humans? 😀 Let the cat have this super cool and super warm cat skull sweater.

This awesome sweater is warm and stretchy, because yarn is 75% wool and 25% polyamide. It is available for purrrchasing right over here: Cat Skull Sweater.

When I was thinking about Halloween collection, I always had in my mind this picture of a cat sitting on the moon. So yeah, I guess you got the cat and all you need now is…the moon! And this sweater gives you exactly that. It also gives to your cat warm pleasures and is very soft.

Now this one is definitely another one (and probably the main) of Halloween essentials – pumpkin! Believe it or not, I have never ever carved a pumpkin in my life, because over here in Europe (at least in Lithuania and Finland) people don’t really celebrate Halloween. So at least I can keep up the Halloween spirit through this cool pumpkin sweater!

And the last, but definitely not the least is this orange sweater with a bat. Yep, I’ve never seen a bat either, but I think they’re insanely cute! So that’s the story behind this sweater: I like bats, they’re cute, they’re also associated with Halloween, so why not let your cat to rock a sweater with bats?

In the end of June I was contacted by a lady called Dana, who works for ”Make a wish” organization. She told me, that she was looking for a sweater for Sphynx kitten and whether I could make one within a month. The Sphynx kitten was one child’s wish and he wanted the kitten to have a yellow sweater. Without a doubt I was immediately up for it! If I have an opportunity to make this world at least a little bit better place, I’ll do it. Especially, if all it takes is a one tiny cat sweater. So, Dana chose this design:

And this is what I came up with few days later:

“Make a wish” received the sweater quickly and without any problems. Another awesome thing is that more people also participated in this and the boy received in total 3 yellow sweaters for his new kitty! He loves the kitten so much and he helped him to get through all the difficult treatments. Here are couple of pictures of him and the kitty (I blurred the boy’s face for understandable reasons):

It warms my heart so much to see a smile on this little boy’s face! I really hope he will get better and gets to enjoy his life to the fullest for many years to come.

Even though this past week was nothing like summer (except for the green trees, little sunshine and nicely smelling grass after the rain), in our home we live with very summery moods. And the little summer sweaters that I made definitely add freshness and remind every single day: it’s still summer.

The first sweater is this off white (or light beige – whatever you want to call it) shirt with beautiful golden bling. It is also decorated with tiny little flowers at the bottom. Every single detail in the sweater is crocheted. It’s super light, lets the skin breath and is made out of 100% cotton yarn.

The second one is all about the sea. It’s related to the sea not only because of it’s beautiful coral color, but also because of the shell pattern. I’ve had this yarn for a while and tried quite a few patterns until I decided that this is it. And I think the pattern suits this yarn perfectly.

The yarn is 85% cotton and 15% viscose, so the sweater is very light and comfortable. It is available in coral and lime colors. You can buy the sweater over here: Coral Shells.

The last one is simple yet it has a twist. It is made of a light, but very stretchy and nice extremely white yarn, which consists of 62% viscose and 38% acrylic. While the previous two sweaters are both crocheted, this one is knitted. It is also decorated with real shells, which give nice and subtle look to the sweater.

When I was taking the pictures, the light was simply awful. It’d been raining for days already, and I didn’t know, when it would stop and if it would stop, so I made a decision to start a photoshoot. I am not very happy with the end result, but, well, thinking about the conditions I had, I am glad the pictures are THAT good! Oh, I can’t wait to have a new camera, which probably will be at my home this autumn. Fingers crossed!

A walk in dandelion fields

This week was so busy I thought I’ll lose my mind! I needed to do so many things, and my failed health definitely didn’t help me at all. But at least by now I’m finally getting a grip of everything and can finally focus on the important things. But, well, at least I always have my cute soft kitties to cuddle with. And let me tell you – their purrs heal better than any medicine! Like, how can you feel bad, when you walk into the room and see something like this?

When I was still feeling good and had some free time, my fingers were itching to do something. And so I found yarn, which I bought a while ago and started knitting. I didn’t really have any clear idea of the sweater, so I just went with the flow. I knew that even though the yarn is thick, I wanted it to look “summery” and fresh. And to me there’s one thing that remind me of re-born nature and late spring – dandelions. So why not to make a Dandelion sweater?

Doesn’t look bad after all, huh? It required some precision to make it, but it was so much fun. And oh, I love that bright coral color!

I have only two sweaters available in sizes S and XXS. Yarn is 100% polyacrylic.

And even though the sweater was so bright and nice, my model Beliza was all grumpy and sleepy. Nothing helped – no treats and no toys were interesting to her. Maybe it was the rainy weather that caused it, or maybe she just didn’t get enough of her beauty sleep. Anyway, we managed to work something out and got some nice pictures!
